Chasing #SE7EN starts at Charlotte

Jimmie Johnson is chasing history- one championship away from tying Earnhardt and Petty. The longest race at the end of the 10 days of Thunder... started with Jimmie on the pole.

JJ has labeled this attempt for a Sprint Cup Championship #SE7EN in honor of Joseph Riddick (Ricky)  Hendrick IV, who was killed along with nine others when the Hendrick Motorsports Beech 200 crashed as a result of pilot error in poor weather outside of Martinsville on October 24th, 2004.

JJ said this was how Ricky always wrote seven...

A lovely tribute...

Today, after Jimmie's win, he is one step closer to #SE7EN, as he is now a chase driver in 2014. Let the celebration begin!

Special mention to Kurt Busch trying the double- finishing 6th in Indy and starting the 600- sad he blew the engine..
