Promotion

I finished a promotion package last Friday, that will be reviewed by my peers and if I am approved, by this time next month, I will be an RNII at my institution.

I believe I am qualified- even overly qualified- for this next step in my career.

But part of the process is to write a statement stating why you should be promoted. I really struggled to write about myself... praise myself... it just does not come naturally.

I also needed to give examples of how I exceeded expectations when dealing with a family. This was hard because I don't look at my work that way.

As a nurse I never really excelled at talking about how I excel... What I do well, I just do... I don't really think about it too much of parse it up and examine it.

This was a huge learning event for me, and if I am telling the truth, it was more than a little uncomfortable. It was outside my comfort zone. Perhaps that is why I have been "thinking about", "getting ready to start", "collecting references for", since last summer.

Now that it is done, a huge weight is off my shoulders. I have done my part. Now I just have to wait till the committee does their assessment. Hopefully I meet their standards. But even if I don't, I know I put my best foot forward.

Financial Peace University, Class One (Again)

After being derailed by illness last summer, I am restarting my Financial Peace University classes. Terri and Sharon are my instructors and it is a personal class just for me because the other person who signed up didn't make it. Hopefully they can attend next week.

I have decided that March will be a Money Moratorium- needs only spending- groceries, gas, bills.  and emergencies. I need to restock my Emergency fund after repairing my ignition collar. Get Baby Step One done! To that end, I have committed through the first week of May to taking care of my home health case on Saturdays. Getting it Done!

My homework is to do a basic monthly budget, so I got on-line and checked what my monthly bills were, and now have to work on the variable expenses. UUUGGGHHHH!!!

Wish me luck!
