It's always great when you are the absolute last person who's luggage arrives. that said, Passport control is no longer endless lines with huge wait times. Not sure when that changed but it was such a pleasant surprise after the long flight
I was able to hop on the tube and make my way into London and meet my friend who is hosting me for the next few days,
For sure I was ready to rest when we arrived at his place.
Sadly, as we arrived, my daughter called. Her dad's sister died the night before after a long battle with cancer. Mirna Estrade de Valle has been a friend for over 30 years and was endlessly kind. Gone far too soon, Mirna was 55 years old and had two sons and my heart grieves for them.
Sightseeing day one and my first stop was the British Library, which should not surprise anyone who knows me.
Their lattes are tiny
"Mad" King George collected an amazing assortment of the world's knowledge and the library safeguards the collection.
The library also had a display of important US documents in honor of our 250th anniversary.
There were just so many treasures...
Unfortunately, their Gutenberg bible was not on display when I was there, as it was being restored.
Which just means I will need to go back again one day...
