Twelve years ago today, I went to the hospital for a routine non-stress test as I was 6 days overdue. After the test I was admitted, and after a transfusion, I was prepped for my c-section. Just before 9:30pm, John arrived. My beautiful baby boy.

Nothing in this world will ever break my heart again...

Cold...

"Coldest weather in 20 years"

Okay, I think we should all agree on one thing... The term "daily high" should NEVER be linked with a negative number. I mean, we aren't in Barrow, Alaska. The negative numbers have no place here where the trees grow...

My son will not be heading to school this morning- at 10:30pm they called off classes for today. Leaving my house at 6am, I totally agreed with the call- even if the kids end up going to class till July.

My dogs are living in the kitchen and I am hoping they don't eat my cabinets but it was just too cold for them, even in the garage. Bone chilling!

So please, if you have to be out, be sensible. Dress for the weather. Stay safe.

Snow

So my first drive to work in 2014 required all of my New York driving skill- snow was coming down pretty heavy and the roads were pretty slippery. The nice part of it was how few cars were on the road- I think my 6:15am departure coupled with many folks extending their holiday contributed to the light traffic.

My first work call of the day was someone who clearly thought they would be leaving a message at 7:15- they were surprised to get me live and in person.

By that time, I had breakfast, cleared my car of snow, taken out the garbage, ironed my pants and gotten to work. A good start to the new year.
